Overview

Currently, Fondi does not provide a native way to broadcast pre-recorded content to your stage. However, you achieve this by leveraging a platform like Restream. See below for how to connect Fondi <> Restream to broadcast your pre-recorded content.

What is Restream?

Restream is a streaming platform that allows you to broadcast live video to 30+ social networks at the same time. This includes being able to upload a pre-recorded video file and stream it to simulate it being "live".

Connecting Fondi and Restream to stream a video file to a stage

  1. Sign up for an account on Restream. You will need a paid Restream account in order to stream an uploaded file.

  2. Add your Fondi Stage as a "Channel" to your Restream account. On your Restream dashboard, click "Add new channel". Then click "Custom RTMP" on the bottom row.

  3. From your Fondi stage settings (or Fondi Dashboard), copy the RTMP URL and Stream Key. Paste the details into the Restream channel settings. Then click "Add Channel".

  4. Upload your pre-recorded video file(s) to Restream. This will take a little while to upload, depending on the size of your video. Leave the window open while it uploads. Note that you may hit certain limits and may need to upgrade your Restream plan if your video is too big.

  5. Create a new event on your Restream account using the type "Schedule a Recorded Video".

  6. Select the uploaded file you want to broadcast to your stage and enter the details for your event.

  7. On the final settings page of your Restream event, enable the new RTMP channel you created. Then, set the date and time you want the video file to be "broadcasted" to your stage. Ideally the date and time line up with a session on your agenda within Fondi.

  8. That's it! Now, on the date and time you specified in Restream, your video file will begin broadcasting to your stage on Fondi, just as if you were broadcasting live.

As always, let us know if you have any questions in getting your event on Fondi configured.
